Engraved Zippo lighter

The story of George Blaisdell from Pennsylvania began seventy years ago. George decided to create a lighter that would look good and be simple to operate. He purchased the manufacturing rights to a windproof Austrian lighter and significantly improved it according to his requirements. The body of the lighter he created was rectangular and included a flint wheel mechanism, a wick, and a lid. He simply called it Zippo, named after a new patent at the time, the zipper.

Over the years, Blaisdell earned the nickname "Mr. Zippo," while the lighters became a household name and gained followers all over the world, becoming an American legend. Zippo lighters are known to be reliable and function in all weather conditions. Over the years, very little has changed—mostly the exterior design. Today, one can find a variety of patterns and designs, some of which are rare and of great interest to collectors worldwide. Zippo Zippo lighters ZIPPO - lifetime warranty

Zippo lighters are known for being "windproof" thanks to the special design of the wind guard and the ability to produce a strong flame accordingly. The wind guard is large (relative to the size of the flame) and metallic with small holes. The correct way to extinguish it is by closing the lid, which cuts off the oxygen supply. The closing does not cut off the fuel supply. Unlike other lighters, its uniqueness lies in the fact that it operates using a wick.

The quick opening of the lighter, along with the audible click, activates the wick which releases the fuel, and the flint wheel creates a spark just like in other lighters. To prevent wasting fuel, it is customary to keep the Zippo lighter with the lid closed when not in use.

Frank Sinatra was buried with his favorite Zippo lighter.
