The company is known for its lifetime warranty on its product. The company offers to repair or replace any Zippo lighter that has malfunctioned, regardless of how many years ago it was manufactured or how many people have used it. The only part not covered by the warranty is the finish on the exterior of the lighter.
Zippo lighters are known for being "windproof" due to the special design of the wind guard and the ability to produce a strong flame accordingly.
